This sweet mama first contacted me about a Fresh 48 hospital session several months before her due date. Even with a few months to go, I could tell just how excited she was for her session- and to finally hold her baby girl in her arms!
Her due date was originally set for my birthday and I was gladly prepared to celebrate the day shooting her hospital session. As most babies do, she had different plans and arrived when she thought the time was just right. Little Giovanna Sophia was born on a beautiful, warm summer evening. Upon arriving at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for her session, I could tell in an instant just how cherished she was by both mom and dad. Giovanna was just getting the hang of life outside of the womb when I first arrived, and after a quick feeding break, she was ready for her first modeling gig. And what a sweet little model she was- plump, pink and perfect!
In all sessions involving a new baby, I ask new parents if there are any special items that are meaningful to them that they would like to incorporate into the session. This new mom sadly lost her own father the year before and wanted a way to honor his memory. She had brought in her hospital bag a very special set of Rosary beads made from the flowers at her father's funeral. We arranged the Rosary in a few shots with her holding her new baby girl. It was an incredibly beautiful way to pay tribute to her father who left the world too soon. I feel incredibly honored to be able to capture the raw emotion and the earliest hours with new families.
